Racist abuse against the French duo after the World Cup final

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported on Monday that France striker Kingsley Coman and midfielder Aurelien Tchoameni were subjected to racist abuse online after missing two penalties in the World Cup final against Argentina.

Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez saved Koeman's shot, while Choameni shot wide, as Argentina won their third World Cup and first since 1986. Bayern Munich, whose color Koeman defends, published a message of support for the 26-year-old player, condemning the racist comments against him.

"The Bayern family stands behind you King," he said on Twitter. Racism has no place in sports or in our society."

The incident follows racist abuse against England players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bucayo Saka, after they won the 2020 European Championship against Italy last year. All three players missed penalties, only to be attacked on social media after the game.
