Macron: Proud of a team that made the French dream

French President Emmanuel Macron praised his country's performance at the World Cup and sought to congratulate star Kylian Mbappe after the team lost the final to Argentina on penalties after a 3-3 draw after extra time.

Macron also tried to comfort Mbappe after the match, as he came down to the pitch to hug and congratulate him. He told BFMTV: "Mbappe is a good player but he is still young, I told him he is only 24 years old. He is the best player in this World Cup, won the World Cup (in 2018), played in one final . I feel sad like him. I said he made us proud and that we won the football game in the end... It's a game."
